Hello, today we’re going to talk about chin enhancements. The reason why we would do a chin enhancement is to balance the profile, define the jaw line and also to tighten up the skin under the jaw. This can be done surgically or non-surgically. Today we’re going to demonstrate how to do it non-surgically with fillers.
Now we’re going to move on to assessing the patient using the Golden Callipers, if you follow this link there will be more information in another video
To we start with the measurements.
[Dr Toro measures the inter eye distance as a reference point. The chin length should be 1.617 times that of the inter eye distance from the surface where the lips meet to the bottom of the chin.
For the measurements it shows that she is about 2 millimetres short in the chin. Also we need to look at her profile, so just repositioning the patient and looking at the bridge of the nose should be inline with the protrusion of the jaw, like so.
One other thing that’s important with doing the chin enhancement is addressing the muscle in the chin. Can you sulk for me? That’s it, beautiful. She’s got quite an active muscle here so it’s important to treat that with an Anti-Wrinkle Injection.
The reason why we’re treating this area with an Anti-Wrinkle Injection is because she has an over active muscle which is causing the chin to flatten. So by using the Anti-Wrinkle Injection we’re going to relax the muscle, so less flattening, and also it’s going to prolong the life span of the filler.
We’re going to start with administering a little bit of local anaesthetic and then we’re going to do the filler; and then we’ll move onto the Anti-Wrinkle Injection.
Now we’re going to start with the filler injection, for the downward projection, as well as the forward projection.
[You will now watch Dr Toro administer the injectable treatments to the patient. As you will be able to watch there is minimal discomfort to the patient and the procedure is rather non-invasive and quick.]
It’s important that you inject slowly. Now as I’m injecting I’m constantly checking and now she’s got quite a good downward projection so now we’re going to be concentrating on bringing it out forward.
For the sides, just to ensure we don’t have that stuck on appearance from the chin enhancement I’m going to be using a cannula for it. Now a cannula is like a blunt needle, so in order for me to introduce a cannula in I’m going to have to pierce little holes on the side there and there with a needle; and then I mould. This is to ensure there are no lumps.
Now we’re going to do the Anti-Wrinkle Injection just to relax the muscle of the chin. And now we can go to the before and after photos.
